Latest PostsGet Adobe Creative Suite 2 for free legally while you still can: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and more.
Most graphic designers see Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator as the de facto pinnacle of image editing and manipulation. After testing these products for a free trial period of 30 days, though, continuing to use the software costs several hundreds of dollars.
However, as of January 7, 2013, Adobe provides an unrestricted version of Creative Suite 2 - including Photoshop for free (Windows + Mac). Serial numbers that do not require activation, are given for each product on the Adobe download page. CS2 was released in 2005, but it still works without problems in XP, Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8. Downloads for Mac OS X are provided as well, but the outdated version of Photoshop won't run on Lion and Mountain Lion. Naturally, updating CS2 to the latest Creative Suite 6 won't work, and there is no support for the outdated version.
Why does Adobe do that?
Just recently, Adobe decided to shut down their activation servers for Creative Suite 2. As a result, users having purchased the product years ago, can no longer re-/install it with their own serial number. To solve the issue, Adobe now provides a version that does not require activation at all.
Possibly, Adobe will revoke their decision and take down the download soon; so you better head right over and get your free version of CS2. Although there is no official statement, yet, CS2 is probably not intended to be used for free. If in doubt, you may still use the software for 30 days. After this trial period, you should then delete it on your own ;-)
'You have heard wrong! Adobe is absolutely not providing free copies of CS2!
What is true is that Adobe is terminating the activation servers for CS2 and that
for existing licensed users of CS2 who need to reinstall their software, copies of CS2 that don't
require activation but do require valid serial numbers are available. [...]
You are only legally entitled to download and install with that serial number if you have a valid license to the product!'
